How Much Does AirBnB Take?

Airbnb takes 3% fee from the total reservation price (booking revenue plus cleaning fee) from Hosts. A value-added tax (VAT) may also be added depending on the location of the property.

Airbnb also takes 5% – 15% from guests upon completion of a booking. This service fee changes depending on the subtotal of the reservation. The more expensive the total, the lower the guest service fee.

Airbnb’s fees are lower for hosts than almost all other major Online Travel Agencies (OTA’s). Booking.com charges 15% – 18%, Expedia.com charges 12% – 20%. Homeaway/VRBO charges between 4% – 10% of booking revenues.
